Chapter 126 - 126: Zuo Ya

As the battle between Zuo Ya and Song Jian was about to commence, the black club in Zuo Ya’s plump hand looked as insignificant as a twig. But on this weapon, a shimmer of blue glow flickered, making it hard to underestimate.

After Zuo Ya drew his club, his bulky body, akin to a heavy-duty armored vehicle, charged towards Song Jian.

Song Jian hoisted his Rocket Launcher and took aim at Zuo Ya.

Seeing this, shock spread across Zuo Ya’s chubby face; he stopped instantly, raised his hands, and yelled in terror, “What the hell are you doing? How do you have such a weapon?”

“Woah-. Cool!” A bar brawler whistled with an excited grin.

“He’s definitely pay-to-win. Big bro, tell me how much this weapon costs. One hundred thousand? One million? Five million? 1’11 pay anything. Of course, I’m talking about RMB,” shouted a player standing on a table, waving at Song Jian. “Hey, big guy, are you surrendering?” chortled Song Jian, aiming at Zuo Ya.

Zuo Ya’s face paled, then blushed, shaking his head and pleading, “I apologize, I think we’d better not use weapons. After all, you are a VIP of the Sunflower Bar. It’s not good to injure anyone. Let’s fight bare-handed.”

“Haha, Zuo Ya chickened out!” A barman laughed out loud, clutching his belly.

“Come on Zuo Ya, it’s just a rocket launcher! You’re a level seven elite Boss. Don’t be scared!”

“That’s right, Zuo Ya, with all your fat, a single rocket can’t kill you. Maybe you can even bounce it back.”

“Exactly, Zuo Ya, it’s time to show your real skills. Bouncing a rocket with your body, that would be fun!”

The staff members and brawlers were heckling Zuo Ya relentlessly. Even Fiana failed to suppress a charming smile.

Unfazed by the mockery, Zuo Ya turned to Song Jian, “You’ll have to beat me bare-handed to earn the information on the Street Thug occupation. So, shall we have a proper duel instead of relying on weapons to win?”

“Okay, you got it,” Song Jian tucked the Rocket Launcher away, stretched out both his hands, palm-directional towards Zuo Ya, mimicking a bare-fist posture.

Zuo Ya breathed a sigh of relief, sheathed his club and swung his fists into the air a couple of times, warning Song Jian, “Watch out, I am known as Iron Fist, the undisputed champion of Sunflower… uh…”

Realizing something, Zuo Ya glanced nervously back at the bar counter and spotted Fiana’s amused expression. He felt a flush of embarrassment rise in his face then continued, “Undisputed champion of Sunflower Bar Staff and Brawlers.”

“Hahaha!”

All the staff members and bar brawlers exploded with laughter. Some were even lying on their chairs, hammering the table.

“Enough talk, let the fight begin!” Indignant, Zuo Ya, with a flush of embarrassment on his face, charged towards Song Jian.

Swoosh-

A streak of silvery Sword Qi emanated from Song Jian’s index finger. One sweep forward and Zuo Ya found himself enveloped in a silvery screen, facing a massive incoming threat.

Gulu-gulu-

Zuo Ya stumbled backward, and then started rolling backward for a few rounds before he stopped some distance away.

Some players even rubbed their eyes in disbelief at the sight of Song Jian while the bar fell silent in astonishment.

“What just happened? What was that silver light?”

“It seemed to be emanating from his left hand, was it a skill?”

“Magic? Or something else? So cool!”

The crowd began to whisper amongst themselves. Fiana’s eyes lit up as she scrutinized Song Jian with a look of surprise on her face.

The other bar staff and brawlers also looked horrified. Too shocked, they started murmuring in hushed tones.

“Was that the thing?”

“Seems like it, looks identical, but how could this be possible…”

“That’s a legendary occupation that supposedly only appears in legends. He hasn’t even got a combat occupation yet, has he?”

“I’m not sure. You said it, it only appears in legends. We haven’t seen it ourselves…”

Though they seemed to know something, they didn’t dare to discuss it openly and started whispering amongst themselves.

Zuo Ya, still in shock, got up from the ground, feeling a painful throb from his chest. He looked down to see his tunic slashed open as if cut by a sharp blade; A foot-long bloody mark was visible on his chest. The wound was not deep, but it seemed like it had been made by a sharp blade.

Feeling the throbbing pain from the wound, Zuo Ya looked at Song Jian and mumbled, “Sword Qi?”

“Do you want to continue fighting?” Song Jian asked, smiling at Zuo Ya.

Zuo Ya hung his head in disappointment and shook his head, “I lost, I’m no match for you.”

To Zuo Ya’s submission, the other bar employees didn’t tease him; instead, they gave him sympathetic looks.

“Zuo Ya, it’s okay, you rolled pretty impressively just now!” a staffer yelled.

“Hahaha-” Everybody burst into laughter, restoring the vibrant atmosphere in the bar. The staff and brawlers started rearranging the seating layout. Players also gathered around Song Jian.

“Master, what was that skill you used before?” Someone asked curiously.

“Tell us about it, it looked so powerful!”

“Yeah, it was like a blade of pure silver. Is that the legendary Sword Qi?”

Song Jian brushed them off with a few words and sent the players away. He then turned to Zuo Ya and asked, “I’ve passed the test, right?”

“Yes, you have,” Zuo Ya replied, conceding reluctantly, “But, considering you have better options, you may not be suitable for the Street Thug occupation.”

“It’s okay. I just want to know about this occupation. I may not necessarily choose it.”

“Alright then, I’ll share everything about the Street Thug occupation with you now!” Zuo Ya started to explain the details of the occupation.

System: You have successfully completed the challenge posed by the Bar Brawler Zuo Ya. Your rapport with Bar Brawler Zuo Ya has increased to a friendly level, and he begins to share information about the “Street Thug” occupation.

Coming to the Explanation Space again, after spending more than ten minutes, Zuo Ya relayed all details about the Street Thug occupation to Song Jian.

After understanding everything about the Street Thug occupation, Song Jian realized he had underestimated the occupation. It was similar to the “Thief” occupation in other games with similar skills like stunning, making opponents bleed, stealing, etc. There were also this occupation’s unique skills like “Extortion”, “Intimidation”, etc.

The most important part was that the occupation talent of a Street Thug was total weapon mastery, which allowed the utilization of any weapon to its full potential.

Once one takes up an occupation, one can only use the weapons belonging to that occupation, and using other weapons reduces their power by 50%. However, the Street Thug occupation did not have this drawback.

After receiving all the intel about the Street Thug occupation, there was a system prompt again ringing in Song Jian’s ear.

System: You have found a combat occupation mentor and learned about the Street Thug occupation. Mainline task 2/10 complete.
