Chapter 100: Solo Nightmare pt.2
The claws and wings continuously striking at the boss made her health bar fall at a slow and steady pace.
He did not know what her magical damage resistance was but it felt significant in this case.
The damage to her body beginning to build up and he continued his targeted blows on her head, last time he had fought her solo in the normal difficulty he had eventually destroyed her skull which made her defenses disappear against that point.
He had never told the team about this detail as it was hard to target her skull that much and he liked having a trump card even against allies.
The rapid blows on her skull made the cracks spread further which only made her draw more life mana into her body at which point Ezekiel had to contest the mana even further.
He noticed that her protection against her head and his lack of focus on her body beyond blocking her sword had made her stop defending herself there so he struck out with a large slash of mana to her sword arm.
It was shockingly effective as it cut deep into the bone that could repel blades.
The mana flowed from her head and down her neck, it made each crack in her bones glow with a green light but the further it spread the dimmer it was.
His strikes on her skull got more aggressive at that point as it was not being healed as well, this made the boss withdraw her mana again to start defending her head.
Their battle continued like this for another few minutes until he felt his blood starting to boil.
\'Dammit what now!\'
He didn\'t like how his body felt when this discomfort happened so he started to do what Lucretia had taught him.
By pushing more mana into the creation of each needle in his frenzy wing spell he could make a constant supply of those empowered needles through whatever mana was causing his body to freak out.
The mana in this spell was almost pure void mana at that point and it had effects he could not identify as her body started to break down around the needles that pierced her body.
When he saw this he activated the mana burn skill to go even further.
If this much extra mana using whatever this effect was could cause that much power gain then what if he increased it futher?
He felt his body begin to burn, the fire on his body was so very cold but he used it like the weapon it was.
He shaped all of the excess mana in his body to create more powerful needles for the frenzy spell but it was not enough.
The frenzy spell could only use so much mana at a time due to the way he created it but he had other spells...
He had other skills.
The black mana constructs on his body began to expand, the armor slowly being constructed above his elbows and across his upper arms before reaching his shoulders.
The mana on his forearms began to create blades that would be used as extra striking tools while another began to be made from his elbows.
The mana slowly covered his wings as denser armor with sharper blades like a saw, down his sides and back he felt the cold sensation of this odd mana cover him while on his chest he saw interlocking plates of this dark material.
Down his legs and and calves he saw savage armor being created as well as the clawed boots he wore gaining a sharper mana coating.
It looked like he wore armor from some edgy child\'s fantasy but with the mana supplying it\'s durability he could easily use the armor as intended.
The blades on his forearms were easily stabbing her when he when he aimed them properly as well as the serrated edge on his wings making them into quite deadly weapons.
One of her legs was severely wounded by the slash his wings could now deliver while he abused her.
Her body was nothing more than a target and a testing dummy for his ability to be precise in his strikes.
He aimed at joints, at limbs where he knew arteries would be located, he aimed at places that he saw connected by her mana instead of tendons.
She was practice for combat against humanoid foes.
Soon her health fell below 50% and she unleased a wave of shadow mana, shadow mana that did nothing to him.
The battle got more intense as she started to use the life mana in a different way, he felt a glancing blow from something he didn\'t see.
When he took a moment to check he saw an array of floating swords made of life mana and all of them were being used to strike at his body while he battled her.
\'Fuck!\'
He felt a blade crack through his armor and he had to push more mana into the skill to repair it.
When she began to teleport away he followed, he could not always land directly behind because she started to use pure life mana attacks.
\'The boss can learn?!?!\'
He felt his leg get stabbed by one of the sword so he had to start worrying about them, the next one to try and land a blow he batted away with his wing while on the return swing he slashed her.
He growled like a beast while batting away her attacks and landing blow after blow to her but he saw her body reparing itself.
Each attack he guarded against was a moment for her to heal and get faster, each lapse of his focus was a chance for her to get stronger.
Her blades were getting more dangerous the more her body repaired itself and he was taking more hits than he liked.
At some point she had managed to create a second life mana blade to wield and these two blades were used intermittently in attack and defense.
The two began to clash faster and faster until she suddenly let out a loud shriek like a banshee as she had once before.
His ears were bleeding and he tried to keep attacking but his body felt weak.
She turned away to grab something from her coffin and to his astonishment he saw her wielding a blade, a silver blade with green stones lining the hilt.
\'Oh hell no...\'
Diana was acting strangely, she was not acting like a normal boss and he was afraid that he had messed up somehow.
She was doing new things.
Bosses don\'t do new things.
Bosses are supposed to be predictable!
He dashed forward to swipe the sword away while stabbing forward with his wing but she flicked the blade one time to send him away with a wave of green mana.
If life mana were a deep emerald green then this mana was clearly something else as it had a more pale green color.
\'Wind mana?\'
The room was in fact more drafty suddenly.
He scowled and got ready for her to use this new blade but she didn\'t.
He watched for any move while he recovered his mana as this new detail meant he could not rush in without a strategy.
He saw her make a strange motion with this gemstone studded rapier before she stabbed outward with it.
He felt a tinge of worry so he moved his head.
A stabbing pain in his shoulder was what met this motion as he felt a strange blade of wind mana pierce his armor and into his body.
This sensation made him act, he used his armor\'s teleportation skill to appear behind her and try to strike again but he quickly turned with wind flowing around her body, thia wind then formed into a blade that slashed across his chest forcing him to block.

He growled again and felt his blood boiling further as the thrill of battle overtook him.
His racing heart felt like it was on fire and he attacked repeatedly with his own mana projectiles to distract her while he went in for the kill.
Since she could not block with her sword as easily as the ones made of mana she seemed to relegate some of those constructs to acting as defense.
As he was able to land more hits he felt more and more mana leaving his body.
He almost didn\'t even understand why until he felt his senses focusing through the haze of battle lust.
He was using the death mark skill each time he attacked with his claws.
By striking with his claws he could overwhelm her with double the strikes and he began to imagine the old media of monks using ki to add a secondary strike on opponents.
He would love to try to experiment with the ideas behind those movies and novels but this was not the time and his blood burning so much would not allow him to focus anyway.
All he knew was that her health bar was at 34% and he would finish this to return to his Lucretia!
