Chapter 287 - Luring the Ones Behind Out

Chapter 287: Luring the Ones Behind Out

He knew very well just how meaningful such an endeavor truly was, and his name would be etched in the annals for participating in such a grand undertaking.

The way they saw it, however, it was a long shot. It was at least deemed near impossible given the current state of powers among the cultivators.

Compiling a book on cultivation methods was not tricky, and he could do that himself. However, collecting one with universality at such a scale was immensely difficult. The greater the scale and people meant to reach, the greater the difficulty.

If the difficulty of compiling such a book for one person were to be quantified at one, such a book suitable for ten people would be at 100, and for 100 people, probably somewhere around 100 thousand.

Methods that all could train with were thought to be of unimaginable difficulty, which was deemed to be as difficult as for a common man to reach the skies.

Even if such an endeavor were to come to fruition, it would have taken tens or over 100 years, or even several centuries of unceasing trial and error, before a rough structure of such a book could come into being.

Getting on with developing a second version of such a book would be immensely difficult for them all.

The bulk of the work involved so far was completed almost by Lu Xuan alone.

It made the priest feel as if he were dealing with a monster or a god of some kind. The blow was of such a scale that he felt as if everything he knew about the world was being crushed, again and again, day in and day out, by Lu Xuan.

It was an extremely terrible feeling.

Lu Xuan narrowed his gaze. He would have understood if it were a single person quitting, as the work involved was indeed very exhausting. Truth to be told, under normal circumstances, there would hardly be anything worth mentioning coming out of it in a short time.

It was Lu Xuan dumping all he learned in his past life into it, as well as putting his perspective as a Celestial Lord to work, that a compilation of cultivation martial arts was able to come to fruition at such an early stage.

Such an endeavor would not have borne any fruit worth mentioning otherwise.

It was Lu Xuan that catalyzed the entire process.

Under normal circumstances, the committee would have probably been scattered all over the country, the members of which would have reported to each other every now and then, as well as having a meeting online every so often.

But then again, the committee nonetheless played a vital role in propagating widespread cultivation in the future.

It was due to such reasons that Lu Xuan did not go on to do everything himself. There was simply no way he could stay where he was at the moment for his entire life.

That was why Lu Xuan was deliberately fostering those people as well, leaving the work of compiling a second version of the book to them.

Lu Xuan had no intention of ruining their growth by doing all their work for them.

However, all that had happened made him realize that something was off. The history he knew was already totally messed up by what he did. Memories of his past life could only serve as a reference at this current point of time.

Something like what was taking place at the moment never happened back in his past life. Likewise, widespread propagation of cultivation did not happen at the current point of time as well.

It was a new timeline altogether.

“If that is your choice, then so be it.”

Lu Xuan was feeling indifferent about it.

Duan Shan appeared in Lu Xuan’s room before long.

His aura had become a lot more stable compared to about a month ago. There was no longer that very intimidating air about him, yet his powers grew compared to a month ago.

He had successfully broken into the Celestial Realm.

Lu Xuan also taught him a method of reeling back his aura, enabling him to conceal his aura somewhat. But then again, doing so before the likes of Lu Xuan was somewhat meaningless.

Lu Xuan could see through Duan Shan disguise all the same due to his current level, even without his Delusion-breaker Eyes.

Despite having broken into the Celestial Realm, there was no hint of disrespect found in Duan Shan when he came before Lu Xuan. On the contrary, he behaved even more respectfully than before.

He only realized, at the moment, how ridiculous he had once been.

He had only thought little of Lu Xuan before, due to not even sense just how powerful Lu Xuan was.

It was only then that he realized that it was simply due to him being of level too low back then.

It was due to him being too weak in comparison, that he was like a frog in a well, being unable to sense just how terrifying Lu Xuan was.

He only learned after being around Lu Xuan for a month, that the lord of the Heavenly Palace before him was at least 100 times more powerful than the others out there thought him to be.

“Go and look into why all those people are leaving the committee,” Lu Xuan said.

“Yes, my lord,” Duan Shan replied right away.

Lu Xuan sat at his chair and kept knocking his fingers on the armrest. A spark of intellect flashed in his eyes.

He had no way to confirm it just yet.

However, he was nonetheless able to speculate that someone was putting a lot of pressure on those people.

Every single member of the committee leaned towards the government, or at least was neutral and meant no ill to anyone.

They would have been disqualified from participating in such an important undertaking otherwise.

Yet, those people had quit at such a time one after another. There was no doubt that it was a sign that they were cutting their ties with the government right away. While it was not to say that they were turning against the government, it meant that it would be very difficult for the government to get anything out of them in the future.

That meant that leaving the committee made it difficult for the government to work with them in the future.

Such a course of action would only either result from extreme pressure or extreme interests.

The only thing that piqued Lu Xuan’s interest at the moment was who was the one who commanded such powers.

Some others came to submit their resignation not long after the elder Taoist priest left, and he approved of every one of them.

But then again, he had someone to look into the case anyway.

Intelligence reports were piled on Lu Xuan’s table before long.

They were 28 people from all walks of life in the committee, and every single one of them was a Celestial Realm cultivator who sided with the government.

Ten among them had handed their resignation at the moment, and some among the remaining 18 had thoughts of quitting as well.

Another report made Lu Xuan frown. Four among the remaining 18 died horrible deaths. Their bodies were found not too long ago, seemingly being dumped somewhere by someone.

The murderer or murderers had no intentions of hiding their deeds. Obviously, the murders were meant as a warning for some people, and Lu Xuan wondered who the warning was meant for.

Is it me? Or the ones who still refuse to quit even now?

Probably all of us, eh?

The Inner Palace was furious after learning of the deaths of the few in the committee. The Special Task Force, the Dragon Fang Special Forces, and quite a number of mysterious organizations were getting to work.

It was apparent that the ones lurking behind the shadows had an agenda against the widespread propagation effort. It was an attempt to pressure Huaxia into giving up on the undertaking.

The Heavenly Palace naturally responded as well. All newly appointed military governors were sent out to investigate.

The matter at hand had everything to do with maintaining the strength of the nation and the welfare of the people. A compromise was not allowed.

Chu Yunfan was seen standing at a training ground in the dark of night, letting the cold wind blow on him.

“I don’t care what kind of a scheme you are planning. You’ll eventually need to rely on your own powers to see those plans executed, no?” Lu Xuan smiled.

“Come on out. You’ve done so much just to have me send my people away and have my fort undefended. Wasn’t all that done so you could see me exposed as I am now?”

Lu Xuan’s voice resounded throughout the entire place.
