Chapter 875 Four Pillars: Full Circle (4)

Chapter 875  Four Pillars: Full Circle (4)

By disabling the system for everyone on the planet, he was giving the products of Project Rebirth, the humans he had created, an advantage that would allow them to prosper in the Veldanyr of the new era.

After all, unlike the other races that had relied on the system all this time for their actions, the humans of the past had reached a height far higher than what the other races had achieved through ingenuity and creativity alone.

Adding on the fact that Vaughn had tormented the other races for the past thousand years, the humans were guaranteed to have a long period of peace that would allow them to flourish and prosper as he had hoped they would.

Of course, aside from those portion of thoughts, the other portion of thoughts he had in mind focused on the other effects Vaughn\'s actions had brought to the entire history of Veldanyr.

With the lost history of Veldanyr, as well as its known history both in his mind, combined with the information he had gathered from the various memories he\'d seen thus far, Valyr finally felt all of them fall into their respective places.

With that, a huge narrative was being formed in his mind, a narrative spanning hundreds of thousands of years that all stemmed from the actions of a single person.

Taking in a few deep breaths as there were still a few parts of the narrative he was unsure of, Valyr looked at Vaughn beside him and asked a question. "When you chose to disable the system for everyone on Veldanyr, did you disable yours as well?"

In response, Vaughn flashed a cheeky grin before shaking his head. "Not at all… or at least, not yet."

"After all, even without the system, the other races on Veldanyr had a lot of things going for them that would still allow them to prosper."

"On the other hand, the humans I recreated were more or less a blank slate, needing to restart from scratch before getting anywhere."

As those words left the man\'s mouth, Vaughn soon explained a side to Project Rebirth that Valyr did not catch while he had viewed the memories from the quadrant leaders.

According to him, the ultimate goal was to recreate the humans of the past, genetically rewritten to become a better version of the original humans in every aspect possible.

Unfortunately, whether it was due to the limitations of the system or the lack of knowledge he had in the respective field, Vaughn was eventually forced to set his sights lower.

"Because of that, the humans that roam Veldanyr as we speak ended up becoming inferior to the humans of the past," said Vaughn as he finished his explanation. "Then again, it all equaled out once I brought the system back." n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"But of course, I didn\'t give up that easily, instead choosing to start another project that involved that first goal I had."

Hearing that, Valyr raised his eyebrow in curiosity, knowing that the man beside him knew what he was thinking about.

Yet, rather than tell the young man what he wanted to know outright, Vaughn merely smiled at Valyr before looking back at the memory, deciding to keep it a secret for longer.

Though he felt a bit annoyed, Valyr inwardly let out a sigh as there was no way for him to force Vaughn to accede to his request.

At the same time, he had a feeling that the man opted to remain silent for a specific reason, deciding to return his attention to the memory as well.

With that, the two watched the Vaughn of the past accompany the humans to the outside world as the world of Veldanyr regressed to an age without the system.

Naturally, with the sudden disappearance of the system, the three races that ruled Veldanyr\'s largest continent went into mass panic as they gave it their all to make it look to the other races that they weren\'t weakened at all.

Sadly, all of those attempts were all for naught as Vaughn rose to the skies, immediately catching their attention as he began to radiate the power he had tormented them for years.

Fortunately for them, rather than wreak havoc on their respective territories now that they were weakened, the one they knew as the Supreme Calamity instead told them that they were all on equal standing with the system now gone.

At the same time, he introduced the existence of the humans to the other races, beings that were of a similar race to him.

Telling the other races that he would be protecting the human race until they were able to settle down, Vaughn soon left the three races on their own after asking them to accede a bit of their land for the human race to use.

Unexpectedly, the three races went into an all-out war against one another after that, deciding to take the disappearance of the system as an opportunity for their territory to become wider.

Of course, what happened instead was them coming face to face with their mortality at a deeper level, being reminded that there were things that they had taken for granted that were only possible with the system.

Because of that, the three races eventually concluded their war after only a few months, thousands of times shorter than the wars they\'ve had in the past.

Nevertheless, with the disappearance of the system, the three races had discovered the truly unique quirk each race had during the war, giving them some confidence that they would still be able to thrive in the new age.

While the three races were sorting themselves out, the human race slowly but surely took their steps to becoming a proper society.

From the discovery of fire, to the creation of the first shelter, humanity gradually grew over the years, making use of their innate ingenuity and creativity to improve their living conditions.

Naturally, Vaughn was there to help them along the way, making use of the knowledge he had accrued over the 70,000 years or so that had passed to speed up the advancement of humanity\'s technology.

While doing so, he took his giving aid to the new humanity as a way to repent for the grave mistake he had caused for the humans of the past, hoping that all of their will would be inherited by the humanity of the new age.

With that, time swiftly began to pass once more, eventually bringing both Valyr and Vaughn to around 85,000 years after the end of the Great Cataclysm.

Having been protected by Vaughn for over 10,000 years, the humans were able to advance their technology to a level that would allow their society to be considered modern, stepping into the era of the Machine Age.

Though it was still far behind the level of technology the humans of the past had achieved on Veldanyr, considering the circumstances and the lesser talents of the humans Vaughn had created, it could be said that the humans had gone above and beyond.

In fact, the humans had made a name for themselves on Veldanyr as the race that boasted the most advanced technology throughout the past 10,000 years, creating aerodynamic machines that would allow them to swiftly soar through the skies.

It was to the point that the other races had begun to poach some of the humans for themselves, hoping that these humans would be able to advance their race\'s technologies to a greater age as well.

Then again, the only reason why humanity was able to get this far in terms of technological innovation was none other than Vaughn, who ceaselessly helped the humans of the new age figure their way around Veldanyr throughout the years.

From forming the unified language of the human race to the various tips he had given humanity that finally allowed them to transition into the modern ages of technology, Vaughn was with them along the way.

Because of that, he was termed by the humans as the Supreme Deity, boasting a level of power and intelligence that none of the humans nor anyone in the three other major races of Veldanyr could match.

However, that all changed on one fateful day as Vaughn soared up through the skies once more, making his presence known throughout the four races that now occupied Veldanyr\'s largest continent.

Out of nowhere, he had told everyone on the planet that he would not be protecting the human race anymore, which unsurprisingly gave the humans the greatest shock of their life.

Looking at the Vaughn in the memory at this exact moment, Valyr noticed that the man now exuded an aura of indifference as a hint of exhaustion mingled with it.

Thinking about how the man had basically held the hands of humanity for over 10,000 years, the young man immediately understood why Vaughn at the time had made the decision.

And so, with those thoughts in mind, he watched the Vaughn in the memory leave the humans of the new age for themselves as he headed back to his laboratory, seeking to obtain the long rest he sorely needed.

On the other hand, the humans were left with no choice but to fend for themselves, even more so after knowing the allure they had towards the three other races.

Understanding what would happen if the other races had their way with them, the humans fought as hard as they could, holding the other races back with the technology they had built throughout the over 10,000 years Vaughn had given.

Yet, in the end, the final bastion of the new humans eventually began to crumble, finally allowing the three races to do whatever they wanted with the race that used to house the being that was once feared.

That was the precursor to the first era of humanity.

The age where humanity\'s light had utterly disappeared.

The Age of Darkness.
