Chapter 55 - 55: You Can ‘t Provoke Si Fuqing

No one could stop Yu Xiheng when he decided to take back something.

Feng San shook his head.

fall people to cross, they chose Miss Si.

Truly blind.

He almost wanted to gouge out the Chen family’s eyes for them.

After transmitting Yu Xiheng’s orders to the city of Sijiu, Feng San stepped out of the study and took a call. “Hello?”

“Mr. Feng,” the voice on the other end was cautious, tinged with curiosity. “May I ask what’s so special about this Chen family?”

This was an investigator under ZERO.

Receiving this assignment had puzzled even ZERO’s higher-ups, simply because they had never heard of the Chen family before.

Households that could make ZERO take note were limited to the three aristocrat families of Great Xia and a few wealthy families in the city of Sijiu.

But the Chen family?

Completely unheard of.

ZERO’s investigators began to seriously consider whether the Chen family was some hidden or emerging power; they hadn’t yet had the time to include this information in their databases.

If so, ZERO’s database indeed needed an update.

“Just a minor family in Lin,” Feng San replied. “As you suspected, they’re inconsequential. They’ve just angered the wrong person.”

The person at the other end finally understood. “I see, then it’s not a big deal.”

“It’s a small matter,” Feng San nodded, then inquired, “I heard you’ve been busy lately?”

“You have no idea,” the other sighed. ‘We clashed with T18 while investigating something in Glenn. Both sides ended up with nothing.”

Feng San was not surprised to hear this.

Internationally, the only organization that could give Zero a run for their money was T18.

Both T18 and ZERO were established around the same time, about a decade ago.

They had confronted each other multiple times, with neither side gaining a decisive advantage.

Feng San had also encountered T18 agents and found them equally tough to deal with.

“Then I won’t disturb you further,” Feng San said. “As usual, we’ll stay in touch online. ”

The other side was polite, “Please convey our regards to Mr. Yu.”

Feng San ended the call and pocketed his phone.

He ascended to the third floor, knocked on the second door on the left and announced, “Miss Yu Tang, it’s time for dinner.”

“I’m not eating!” Yu Tang’s voice, full of righteous indignation, emanated from within. “I have to battle these haters three hundred more times!” Feng San:

He coldly opened the door and escorted a struggling Yu Tang downstairs.

Yu Xiheng was already seated at the dining table.

When at home, he often wore light-colored linen garments that softened his otherwise sharp features.

The mist from the tea blurred the man’s handsome features.

Yu Tang’s eyes filled with tears. “Uncle Nine, those haters are too much! They’re speaking so horribly about my dear Qingqing!”

“Mm,” Yu Xiheng lifted his teacup. “You used to be like that too.”

Yu Tang:

She quickly changed the subject. “Has Qingqing not returned yet?”

“Miss Si is on her way,” Feng San answered. “She’s cycling over, so she’ll be a bit slower.”

“Uncle Nine, you’re too much!” Yu Tang immediately raised her voice in accusation. “You ride in a limited -edition car, but Qingqing has to cycle? How can a capitalist like you not pay a wage!”

Yu Xiheng didn’t look up at her words.

Feng San’s lips twitched. “Miss Yu Tang, it’s Miss Si who said cycling is good for health.”

Sometimes he thought Si Fuqing’s frugality was a bit peculiar.

Yu Tang tried another topic. “Uncle Nine, I want Qingqing to go shopping with me tomorrow.”

This time, Yu Xiheng responded, his tone mild. “No.”

“Uncle Nine, she’s a young woman of incomparable beauty and she’s your bodyguard. She works all week, and it’s hard for her to get a day off. Are you going to monopolize even her weekends?”

Yu Xiheng took a slow sip of his tea, the movement full of grace. “Mm, her daily wage is a hundred thousand. Pay it.” Yu Tang deflated.

She huffed and made a face at Yu Xiheng.

His narrow, phoenix-like eyes quickly scanned her. The light amber pupils were emotionless.

Yu Tang grew nervous.

Knock, knock, knock.

The door was rapped at that moment.

“Eh?” Si Fuqing pushed open the door, her head peeking in. “What are you three up to?”

“Qingqing!” Having a bigger leg to cling to, Yu Tang immediately perked up.

“Uncle Nine is bullying me.”

Si Fuqing paused, turning her head to look at the young man.

Yu Xiheng also looked up, their eyes meeting in a smile.

As the mist from the tea dissipated, his eyes became more vivid, deeper.

It seemed as if a myriad of stars were reflected in them, exerting a bewitching, powerful pull.

“Boss, go ahead and bully,” Si Fuqing sat down beside him nonchalantly. “I’m the bodyguard, paid to assist the boss in bullying!”

Yu Tang:

Feng San:

Should he tell Miss Yu Tang that Miss Si’s true love is money?

Yu Xiheng retracted his gaze and merely uttered, “Let’s eat.”

Si Fuqing picked up her chopsticks and happily dug into the cola chicken wings.

After finishing her meal, she took out a pill bottle from her bag and swallowed a pill.

Yu Xiheng noticed the words on the pill bottle, his eyebrows twitching slightly. “Low blood sugar?”

“Mm, it’s an after-effect,” Si Fuqing seemed unbothered. “It’ll be fine in a few days; it’s not a big deal.”

“Here are some snacks sent from the city of Sijiu,” Yu Xiheng extended his hand and slid an exquisitely wrapped box toward her. “I don’t like sweets.” Si Fuqing’s fox-like eyes brightened, the corners lifting. “Thanks, Boss.”

Feng San felt a bit tempted. “Uncle Nine, may I take—”

Before he could finish, Yu Xiheng glanced at him.

He should have known his place long ago.

The next day, early in the morning.

Si Fuqing went to the hospital.

Successfully avoiding the doctor’s route, she headed straight to the intensive care unit on the ninth floor.

The hospital room was quiet, bathed in soft sunlight.

Only now did Si Fuqing take a good look at the woman’s face.

She was in her early forties, but she had aged gracefully, looking not a day over thirty.

Her complexion was pale but still radiant, exuding an extraordinary aura.

“You must be Miss Si,” the woman said, struggling to rise from her bed but was supported back by a hand.

“You’re not well, Auntie. No need to get up,” Si Fuqing advised. “You’ve just had surgery; you need to rest.”

“I’ve had surgeries every month; I’m used to it,” the woman sighed softly and tenderly took Si Fuqing’s hand. “This sudden relapse could have been fatal. If not for you, I might never have woken up.”

She was well aware of the severity of her heart condition.

For years, she had come to terms with the fate that death could take her at any moment.

Waking up to see the sun this time was actually unexpected.

Si Fuqing didn’t speak. She moved her fingers to the woman’s wrist to check her pulse.

Just as the woman was about to speak, the door was suddenly flung open. It was Mrs. Chen: “Sister, 1—”

Upon seeing Si Fuqing beside the bed, her face instantly changed. “Who let you in? Get out!”

“What are you talking about?” The woman frowned. “Who should get out?”

“Sister, she may have saved you, but she’s definitely up to no good,” Mrs. Chen snapped. “Why else would she come just after you woke up? Leave, or shall I throw you out myself?”

Si Fuqing looked up.

The woman’s tone grew icy. ‘Miss Si is not that kind of person. Apologize for your words.”

“Apologize?” Mrs. Chen seemed to have heard something amusing, her face filled with contempt. “Me, apologize to her? That’s delusional!”

“If you won’t apologize, then leave,” the woman was stern. “I don’t want to see you right now.”

Mrs. Chen’s face turned red instantly. “Sister, 1—”

Si Fuqing stood up, leisurely stretching her wrist. “I didn’t mean to disturb you.

Please excuse me.”

Mrs. Chen instinctively stepped back.

“Bang!”

Mrs. Chen found herself shut out of the room before she even had time to react.

She gripped her handbag tightly, her teeth clenched.

Due to the sensitivity of the intensive care unit, she ultimately did not barge in and reluctantly went home instead.

Mr. Chen had just finished discussing business matters with his partners when he saw Mrs. Chen. “Why are you back so early?”

“Dear, it’s that girl the Zuo family adopted,” Mrs. Chen recounted the event.

“She’s so ungrateful; you have to do something for me!”

“A small matter,” Mr. Chen said dismissively. “I’ll inform the Zuo family that we’re taking this Si Fuqing. Once she’s in the Chen household, you can do as you please.”

Mrs. Chen’s face lit up. “Dear, you’re the best.”

Mr. Chen waved it off, clearly enjoying Mrs. Chen’s attentiveness.

Suddenly, the phone rang abruptly.

The butler looked at it and urgently said, “Sir, it’s a call from the city of Sijiu.”

Mr. Chen’s expression instantly turned serious. “Give it to me, quickly.”

The butler rushed forward and handed over the phone..
