Chapter 412: What’s this 411?

G City, inside a luxurious apartment

By the time Shen Yuting had dressed, it was already one in the afternoon.

From the moment she arrived home with him, when he pinned her against the door the moment it closed, to now, more than three hours had passed. Her body felt as if it had been disassembled and put back together.

“Let me make you some lunch, you rest for a while.”

Jiang Liu looked at her tired state, his tone, very gentle.

“No need, I’m going home now.”

Shen Yuting suppressed the soreness on her lower body, took a step and winced in pain.

“How can you go home looking like this? Do as I say, don’t go back this afternoon. I’ll cook for you, there’s ointment here, apply it and you’ll be fine soon.”

As Jiang Liu spoke, he took out a tube of ointment from a drawer on the side. Shen Yuting’s face turned pale, “You have this kind of ointment, how many women have you…”

“Ha, what about it? I’m a normal man. Those women threw themselves at me, I couldn’t possibly be a saint.”

Seeing that Shen Yuting’s face looked ugly, Jiang Liu’s words paused, a smile surfacing on his face. He softened his tone to coax her: “Now that I have you, I definitely won’t have anything to do with those women anymore. Come, let me help you apply the ointment.”

With that, he squatted down in front of her.

“I can do it myself.”

Shen Yuting’s face flushed as she thought of the moments before, too embarrassed to have him apply ointment for her.

Jiang Liu didn’t insist, he placed the ointment in her hand, and when he stood up, he kissed her flushed cheek, smiling, “I’m going to cook now. Apply the ointment and rest for a while.”

Having said that, he turned around and strode his long legs out of the bedroom, heading towards the kitchen.

Shen Yuting dazedly sat on the bed, holding the ointment in her hand, her gaze somewhat vacant as she looked towards the door where Jiang Liu had disappeared off to the kitchen. From her position on the edge of the bed, she could see nothing.

But until now, she felt a little dazed.

She didn’t even know how she ended up sleeping with him when he clearly wasn’t the man she loved. He resembled him in some ways, even in behavior and speech, but he was not the man she loved.

The cold, aloof face of Mo Xiuchen appeared in her mind, along with his deep, indifferent gaze. She recalled the brutal rejection when she confessed to him that night, and how he pushed her to the ground. It felt as if her heart was being violently torn apart by an invisible hand.

She put the ointment aside and took out her phone to dial that familiar number, wanting to hear his voice again.

The phone rang again and again, finally connecting in her moment of despair. On the other end of the phone, Mo Xiuchen’s voice carried the chill of winter, seeping into her ears and instantly freezing her heart.

“Hello!”

It was just a simple sound, void of any warmth or emotion, as if taking this call was already an annoyance.

“Xiuchen.”

Shen Yuting bit her lip, her voice soft, laden with grievance and sadness. She had loved him for so many years, keeping herself pure for him, yet today, she gave herself to another man.

Her mind was still in chaos.

“What is it?”

Mo Xiuchen paused, perhaps not noticing her unusual tone. His voice was as plain as water. Just as Shen Yuting was about to speak, she suddenly heard Wen Ran’s voice from the other end of the phone, “Xiuchen, come and help me.”

“All right!”

His response was a contrast to his demeanor with her. In his winter-like indifference to her, he was as gentle and indulgent with Wen Ran as a warm spring. He didn’t even give Shen Yuting a chance to speak, saying dismissively, “I’m busy now, call back later.”

Shen Yuting’s eyes inexplicably reddened, the call ended in her hand!

She stared at the call log on the screen, it had not even lasted a minute. Wen Ran’s request made him hang up her call.

That jealousy she had suppressed deep within her surged forth like a sprouting seedling breaking through the soil, growing rapidly and spreading in her sorrow.

The force with which she gripped the phone intensified in her jealousy, the sadness in her eyes gradually submerged. From the kitchen, Jiang Liu’s voice came, “Yuting, do you like your food saltier or lighter?”

Shen Yuting pursed her lips tightly, suppressing her envy of Wen Ran, replied, “Either way”. She stood up slowly, walked to the bedroom door and watched the somewhat familiar, yet somewhat strange figure in the kitchen.
