Chapter 496 - Whats So Good About A Fox?

Chapter 496 - What\'s So Good About A Fox?

Yvonne coughed in embarrassment when she noticed that she had been lost in the thoughts of what she had seen in her visions.

Numerous eyes were fixed on her and she could tell that they were dissatisfied with her blatant display of interest in Topher Tanner\'s face.

Therefore, she was quick to adjust her expressions before diverting their attention elsewhere.

"I heard that Young Master Topher has an etcher now." She cleared her throat and mentioned the aspect that she had been curious about.

From her gossiping tutor, she had heard that the beast that this young boy had gained while training in his fief was a red fox.

However, she had no clue about any other details and hence was immensely curious to know more about it.

Upon inquiring about this matter with her trainer, Captain Desmo, who had frequent contact with the heir of the Tanner family, she was educated more on the topic of etchers.

According to the beliefs of this Kingdom, only those with true potential for greatness could gain etchers who were of the predatory nature.

Predators were seen as the top of the food chain and the same could be said for etchers.

If you were capable enough and were fated to a predatory beast then it was a given that you held great potential and would be held in high regard by the society.

From what she had learned, the red fox that Topher had formed his bond with was most certainly a predator in its own right.

However, other than the fact that she knew of its species, she was ignorant about everything else.

Thus, her curiosity to know more had piqued now that she was standing right before him.

Noticing the eager look on her face, Damien rolled his eyes but the little girl was too focused on Topher to even notice it.

This further heightened his annoyance and he chose to remain a silent observer.

"Yes, does Miss Yvonne want to meet Rouge?" Topher answered with a smile and the pride he had for his etcher was apparent on his face.

"Rouge?" Yvonne tilted her head, causing her hair to fall sideways which made her look more adorable than before.

Topher chuckled at her innocent-looking face and nodded his head.

"That\'s her name. Rouge because her fur is as red as the scarlet fire." He explained to help her understand why he had named his etcher so.

Yvonne\'s eyes brightened at his description and her desire to meet this new etcher was greater than ever.

Standing as mere side characters in their interaction, Taylor, Howard, and even Damien grumbled the same thought in their hearts.

\'What\'s so good about a fox?\' They harrumphed before rolling their eyes at the boasting face of Topher which was now pricking their eyes.

Unknown to their annoyed thoughts, Topher and Yvonne were busy making plans to meet once he got back from the Academy after a few months.

"You can come over to our estate and I can introduce you to Rouge." He offered and the little girl did not hesitate for a second before she nodded in acceptance of his words.

However, soon after, she realized that she had forgotten something and turned towards her parents.

"May I?" She asked for permission while batting her long lashes, bringing out her big guns in order to gain their approval.

While Rutherford was extremely unwilling, Raylene nodded her head in acceptance.

"I can take you there. That way, I get to meet the Duchess as well." She proposed because she and Duchess Beatrice could be considered great friends now.

Having received permission to visit the Tanner household when Topher returns from the Academy, Yvonne was immensely pleased.

\'I should also send a letter using VC\'s alias to get the Tanner\'s acquainted with CLOVER\'s products.\' She recalled her other agenda before the plague would begin.

Less than nine months remained before the outbreak would begin.

She desired to offer her assistance to everyone who was willing to accept it and Tanners needed to be on that list too.

The Tanner fief was a large one and she did not wish for anyone to die due to the lack of soap supplies.

The four young boys who were facing her had caught how her expressions changed from being excited to meet Rouge, the new etcher, to a gloomy and somber appearance.

They could not decipher what had gone wrong in just a matter of seconds so they turned towards the one who had the last contact with her.

\'What did you do?\' They narrowed their eyes at Topher who was once again left speechless for being blamed without any fault of his own.

The parents had not noticed the changes in their precious daughter\'s expressions and hence were left clueless about her troubled state of mind.

"Howard, it\'s time to leave." Rutherford reminded the boys who were busy glaring at Topher.

This brought them back to their senses as they needed to begin their journey soon if they wished to reach the Academy before sunset.

Unwilling as Howard and Taylor were, they pushed down their dissatisfaction and smiled at the little girl.

"I will try to return sooner." The elder brother promised but the chances of that happening were low.

\'I can\'t even hug her now.\' He grimaced as the one standing next to him will also pounce onto his baby sister, demanding a hug.

Therefore, while keeping a vigilant gaze on his best friend, Howard bid goodbye to his parents.

Topher smiled at her and Damien gave her a simple nod as a form of farewell.

The little girl replied to the smile with one of her own then imitated the same action Damien used to acknowledge her presence.

Yvonne stood at the side and watched as the four boys greeted the Earl and Countess after which they bid her goodbye as well.

The little girl along with her parents then watched as the boys hurried to the carriages and their journey began soon after.

She waved at them until they were no longer in sight and only then did she stop.

Turning around, she found her mother in the muscular embrace of her father and rolled her eyes.

\'They need to stop shoving their public display of affection down everyone else\'s throats.\' She sighed as she knew that this was an impossible feat for them to achieve.

The servants who had come to bid goodbye to the Young Master soon returned to complete their chores and now only a few of them remained.

Jax and Limo stood at the side, pretending to be oblivious about the romantic bubbles that were enveloping the Earl and his Countess.

However, Yvonne could not ignore them any longer.

Thus, the little girl cleared her throat out loud to gain their attention and smiled when they turned towards her.

The Earl continued to hold his wife in his arms while gazing down at his child who wished to speak something.

"What is it, Vonna?" He inquired when he saw that she did not utter a word even when she had garnered their attention.

"Papa, may I have a word with you?" She requested, implying that this was not a matter she could speak of here, outside their Mansion.

Rutherford was swift to notice her hesitation so he nodded his head in acceptance.

"I shall meet you there." He announced before walking away with his wife still in his arms.

Butler Limo rushed to prepare tea and refreshments for the Master and Miss while Jax stood next to his Big Boss.

\'So shameless!\' The little girl\'s cheeks turned red as she scoffed at her parents\' blatant display of love and affection right before her eyes.

Jax coughed to hide his embarrassment as he too had seen how the Earl had just picked up his wife and carried her away in haste.

He may not be an adult yet but he could grasp what would happen next.

This made his ears turn red and he looked away to hide his flushed cheeks as well.

If Jax who was a teenager undergoing puberty could understand what was going on, then Yvonne who once was a full-fledged adult most certainly had a clue of what her parents were rushing to achieve.

\'Tsk!\' She clicked her tongue before gesturing to her butler to follow her as they walked in the opposite direction, towards the Office where she would wait for her father\'s return.
