Chapter 125

“Which one?”

“The ones that we sent to find out what was lurking on the island.”

“All five teams were wiped out?” The humanoid demon sitting on the polished stone throne asked once again. Not because he didn’t hear the other humanoid demon’s report the first time, but rather, it was to make sure that really all 5 teams of demihumans, 25 humanoid demons to be exact, were really wiped out from existence.

“Yes... The soul contracts of all 25 of them had been terminated, all of their souls had been eaten.”

After letting the fact that he had just learned sink in and after processing it in his head, thinking about what their next move should be, the humanoid demon that had jet black horns almost as huge as Blake’s forearms that were sitting on top of a throne finally decided,

“Leave that place alone, give warnings to the other teams to avoid the island completely.”

“We are already not too far away from our goal. We don’t want to waste our precious manpower on a dangerous island that we didn’t know anything about.”

“Understood sir.” Replied the other humanoid demon that had fully developed bat-like wings on his back, and was still kneeling on the ground a few meters away from the throne.

.....

Different from the demon that sat on the throne that not only had bulky horns but also strong and tough-looking muscles covering all parts of its body, the demon that kneeled in front had a scrawnier build compared to the sitting demon.

But despite looking weaker appearance-wise, the scrawny-looking demon had a more ‘luxurious’ look compared to the bulky demon.

With rings covering his fingers, bracelets on his wrists, earrings, and a pendant on his neck, which all of them was filled with rune inscriptions, the scrawny-looking demon actually way more classy than the bulky demon who only wore a few bracelets inscribed with runes on his wrists.

“Is there anything else?” The bulky demon asked.

“Yes, I would like to give you the report for each of the fronts that we had, and some may need your assistance if we want to progress even faster.” The scrawny demon replied.

“Continue.”

The scrawny demon then nodded his head before answering, “Our expansion towards the north was pretty much smooth-sailing, with almost not a single mishap happening.”

“The teams found and conquered more and more humanoid demons and made the contract with us. It will only take the teams on the north a few more months before the north is fully conquered.”

Hearing the good news from the scrawny demon, the bulky demon only nodded his head and gestured for the scrawny demon to continue.

“On the other hand, our expansion to the east and west were not so effortless and straightforward with all the danger zones that we met.”

“Two of them were natural danger zones, the volcanic mountain, and the boundless nether plains, while all the other ones were caused by calamity type variants.”

Calamity type variants were exactly as their name implied. They were variant type demons that were able to cause calamities.

From a demon that left a trail of fire anywhere their feet walked on and was able to control fire without drawing a single rune to a demon that could turn the remains of other demons into its own army and now had thousands of demons under its command, calamity type variants were not a demon that other demons would want to mess with without a very strong reason to do so.

And even the army of the humanoid demons that were trying to expand their reach and find as many humanoid demons as possible in the main continent and took them under their wings, had to stay away from these calamity type demons if they wanted to keep their numbers from plummeting a significant amount.

“So, which one do I need to lend my hands on?” The bulky humanoid demon once again asked.

“None of the two, sir.” The scrawny demon shook his head.

“The one that needed your assistance was the south front. The groups went inside a wide forest mountain range that turns out to be the place where strong demonic beasts lived.”

“The demonic beasts were still as strong as ever even in this realm, and we were having troubles with the ones that had eaten enough souls to evolve.”

“But to expand further south, where more humanoid demons could be found, there wasn’t any other way other than going through the forest.”

“We could slowly move inside the forest, but we would be wasting a lot more time and also manpower that we need for our end goal. If sir gave a helping hand in clearing the path through the forest, we would be saving so much of our time and resources.”

Hearing the completely valid and logical reasoning of the scrawny demon, the bulky humanoid demon stayed silent for a few seconds before asking,

“Why don’t you go and help them? You are also capable of doing it, correct?”

After the scrawny demon heard the bulky demon answer, not a single visible reaction could be seen on the scrawny demon’s body other than a few very rapid blinking he had with his eyes.

And after a few seconds of silence, the scrawny demon finally answered,

“Although I do have the capabilities to help them make a path through the forest, my hands are currently a bit tied, sir.”

“More and more ships were built after more humanoid demons learned to make them and more advanced structures were also being built, I need to create the rune formations needed to complete those builds as even though I have tried to teach some of the humanoid demons how to inscribe runes, only a few out of hundreds were capable of doing it.”

After saying his piece, the scrawny demon just looked downward and didn’t say anything else as he waited for the bulky humanoid demon’s answer.

“Alright, I will do it.” The bulky humanoid demon’s voice then finally came.

Stretching his bat wings which were visibly wider than the scrawny demon’s wings, the bulky humanoid demon rose up from his throne and walked forward, exposing his lower back that had demonic runes written in the shape of a circle.

“Where do I need to go?”

————–

Somewhere on the sea, near the west side of the main continent.

“Vera! I think I saw land!”

Squinting his eyes in a certain direction, Blake was glad that he finally found a colossal piece of land at the edge of the horizon, signaling that he might be very close to the main continent that Vera had told him about.

“Rrr?”

On Blake’s side was none other than the shrunken Robus that had better vision than Blake and was able to see the massive piece of land without squinting his eyes.

“Yes, Robus, this is where we would find strong enemies and eat their souls so we can evolve!”

On top of the ship, standing on the top of the sail with only one of her feet, Vera also looked in the same direction as the duo and also noticed the land that Blake mentioned.

“Yes, Blake. Welcome to the main continent of the first demon realm.”
