Chapter 110

“Hi gramps!” Jessica shouted happily in surprise. “So good of you to come check on me! Are you finally free to spend time with your granddaughter after so long? Have I finally moved up in your scale of priority?”

She blinked innocently as she stared at her grandfather through the portal.

“Hohoho. What a vicious guilt attack! Well done, Jessica. Well done. The best defense is offense indeed.” Jul’Taras murmured in approval of her best friend’s well executed move.

“I… I…” Director Sands of the all powerful Gaming Commission sputtered in shock at the utterly merciless attack his beloved granddaughter was levelling on him!

“Or are you begrudging the fact that I am using mere wealth to attract your attention? Should I talk to grandma about it?” Jessica Sands narrowed her eyes slightly as she unleashed another devastating attack on her grandfather.

“Of course not! Leave your grandmother out of it!” Director Sands immediately shouted.

“I can do that.” Jessica Sands conceded that particular point. “But you truly are too much, gramps. I mean, how can you only come talk to me when I am investing almost all of your money? If I didn’t do this, would you have come and talked to me today? Tomorrow? Do you even care about me anymore??”

Jessica sobbed lightly as her mouth curled into an adorable pout and her large round eyes welled up with tears.

“Oh you’re good. You’re very, very good.” Jul’Taras murmured, feeling extremely impressed with Jessica’s all-star performance.

“I… Of course I still care about you! In fact, I am just informing you that I want to make a dinner appointment with you tonight! Do you have time to have dinner with your old, naggy grandfather, Jessica?” Director Sands immediately directed his efforts on fire control to prevent Jessica from unleashing more devastating attacks on him.

He had been terribly ambushed, and he needed to immediately go on the defensive!

“No! I’m too busy! You’re not the only one who is busy!” Jessica immediately rejected her grandpa’s attempt to placate her. Oh no, she still had many trump cards!

“I need to work hard to increase the amount of money in YOUR bank account so that you finally don’t have to work so hard, you know? So that you can finally have lots of time for me! Not just a measly two hours every month for dinner!” Jessica shifted into high gear and plowed on.

“Ahahaha! You’re mistaken, my dear. I don’t need money at all. In fact, I can quit my job any time! I can quit right now if you want! In fact, that’s -“

“No! I don’t want you to quit your job!” Jessica immediately shouted anxiously.

It would be REALLY bad if her grandfather had too much time on his hands. He would be pestering her nonstop!

Jul’Taras was extremely impressed. Now she knew where Jessica got her sneakiness from. It was from her grandfather!!

“I know you love your job. I don’t want you to lose something precious just because I miss you so much. I’ll be happy if you can spare time for me once a wee- err, once every two weeks!” Jessica said quickly.

“Yes, once every two weeks is good. I can even give you a report then on how I am investing your wealth. I’m trying really hard here. I know that you’ll feel much more at ease if you have a stockpile of wealth for your retirement.” Jessica said.

“I feel kind of sad seeing that you only have a hundred thousand or so resource planets in your bank account.” At that, Jessica’s eyes welled up slightly once more. “And although it’s risky, I have to try and increase that amount through investments! It’s so scary! You know how investments are, right? Sometimes they fail. And I don’t know what I’ll do if this investment fails… Huhuhu…”

“Ah, poor child. You are so mistaken. I have more than just one hundred thousand resource planets! I have at least five hundred thousand more scattered over various bank accounts! Don’t worry about your grandfather! Even if you lost the hundred thousand resource planets, I am fine! I am totally fine!” Director Sands tried to reassure his granddaughter that it’s okay if she lost all his money.

He had conveniently forgotten the original reason why he contacted his granddaughter!

“Grandmaster. She is a grandmaster at milking her grandfather for money! I need to take notes.” Jul’Taras murmured to herself, knowing very well that both Void Walkers had ridiculously sharp hearing that had no problems catching everything that she was murmuring to herself about.

“Are you sure?” Jessica batted her large round eyes at her grandfather innocently and ignored Jul’Taras completely.

“Yes, yes. Don’t worry about it. Just… Do whatever you like with the money! I have more! A lot more! After working day and night for so many years, I am rich! All the sacrifices I had made to be where I am now are not for nothing, you know. In fact, if you don’t have enough, you can ask me for more! How much more do you need?” Director Sands asked Jessica with a sincere and loving voice.

Which of course, made Jessica feel extremely guilty. All the money she was spending truly was her grandfather’s hard earned money after hundreds of years! What sort of granddaughter would she be if she spent them all without a single care?

“Ahhhhh gramps. That’s a really good guilt card you played. Fine. Fineeee! You win. I’ll be more careful with your money from now on!” Jessica sighed loudly.

“Nonono, just spend it all! Here! Let me refill the account with another hundred thousand resource planets. Letting you control a third of my life savings which I am planning to use for my pension is nothing at all! Nothing! You can tell me about how you invest it this weekend during our dinner date, alright? Okay, I have to go now. Bye darling!”

And with that, the portal disappeared.

Jessica sighed deeply again as a beep rang out.

She quickly checked her information pad. A short message on it notified her that a hundred thousand resource planets had just been deposited into the account that she was controlling.

“Damn it. He really transferred a hundred thousand resource planets into the account.”

She looked at Jul’Taras who had a very amused expression on her face.

“He won. Completely.” Jessica Sands grumbled.

Jul’Taras merely chuckled loudly.

“Damn it. I won’t touch a single resource planet from that account anymore! It’s the result of his blood sweat and tears! Elliot! You better win first place and give me five million resource planets as spending money!!” Jessica Sands shouted.

Next to them, Monkey King’s brain had short circuited.
